What it is
The annual municipal property tax assessment, calculated from the property's VPT and the rate set by its municipality.
Who needs it
Property owners. Payment falls in May, in one sum or in instalments in May, August and November depending on the amount.
Where to get it
Issued through the Portal das Financas, and by post where paperless billing has not been selected.
Does it expire?
Each assessment carries its own payment deadline. Late payment is subject to interest under the General Tax Law.
