What it is
A document issued by a bank confirming an account and its IBAN.
Who needs it
Often required for salary payments, refunds and direct debits. Many Portuguese institutions pay only to domestic IBANs.
Where to get it
Your bank, through its app or a branch. Usually free and immediate.
Does it expire?
No legal expiry. In practice institutions generally prefer a recently issued copy.
