AIMA application receipt

What it is
The receipt AIMA issues when a residence application is filed. It proves the application has been submitted and, because AIMA requires a complete file at the moment of filing, that it was accepted as complete. It is not a travel document and does not permit movement in the Schengen Area.
Who needs it
Applicants whose residence application is with AIMA and not yet decided. Where processing is delayed, it may be the only residence document held for an extended period.
Where to get it
Issued by AIMA at the appointment where the application is filed. It is not requested separately.
Does it expire?
No fixed expiry of its own; it stands until AIMA decides. It is not a travel document and will not carry you through a Schengen border.
