What it is
Not a single document but a requirement attaching to others: a foreign document used officially in Portugal generally requires an apostille from the issuing country and a certified translation made in Portugal.
Who needs it
Anyone submitting foreign-issued documents to a Portuguese authority.
Where to get it
Apostilles are issued by the designated authority in the issuing country. Translations are certified in Portugal by a notary, lawyer or certified translator.
Does it expire?
A translation does not expire, but where the underlying certificate must be recently issued, the translation must correspond to that fresh copy.
